Environmental impact reports are often formulated as an attachment to the application for
a decision on the environmental conditions of approval for the project.
They are one of the basic instruments of the management and legal protection of the environment.
Their purpose is to anticipate potential environmental threats in the planning phase as well as their scale. Based on the data included in the report, the relevant counter or reduce and counteract of the negative effects of investment may be taken.
They are executed with particular attention to:
- Characteristics of the entire project, including: terms of land use during construction and subsequent operation and expected types and quantities of pollutants resulting from the planned investment.

- Description of the existing historical monuments adjacent to or within immediate reach of the influence of the project.
- Assessment of the impact of the investment on the environment at the stage of its implementation and operation.
- Proposal of the monitoring of the occurring changes
- Indications of overriding public interest.
